Bacardi Mojito Commercial (2009)
Matt and Kim- Daylight

This commercial and this song are the epitome of why this blog exists. The song is catchy as hell, and you are left itching to know who it's by. Matt and Kim are genuinely a band that everyone should listen to. We recommend all their albums, but "Sidewalks" is awesome from beginning to end. See them live if you want your life to be enriched.






Ipod Commercial (2004)
 Jet- Are you Gonna Be My Girl

Granted, I was a young pup back when this commercial aired, but I had no clue who Jet was before this commercial. Once it came out, everyone was singing it. My music teacher played it on his guitar because everyone knew it. Fact is, iPod sent this song, and subsequently Jet into a new level of popularity.




iPod Shuffle Commercial (2005)
Caesars- Jerk it Out

Unfortunately, we have to admit that over the years Apple and iPod in particular have pumped out catchy commercials. Two of them make our Hall of Fame, and there are countless others that are noteworthy (The Ting Tings's Shut Up and Let Me Go, U2's Vertigo, etc). However relative to how popular this song was before this commercial, it burst into the, well, spotlight. Admittedly, I haven't heard much from these guys recently, but this song sure is fun.






Coca-Cola's Anthem-FIFA World Cup (2010)
K'NAAN- Wavin' Flag

No one knew who K'NAAN was before the 2010 World cup. I saw him the summer before in 2009 opening for G.love and Special Sauce and Jason Mraz. He was teaching the crowd the words to Wavin' Flag at the time, now the world knows them.
